Testimonials

From Parents:

We can’t say enough about how much you have impacted our son.

We have to peel him away from practicing violin each night to work on other subjects. He spends much of the time on his computer watching YouTube videos of other orchestras and musicians. He often goes to bed with books of music. Literally reading music books to put himself to sleep. I asked him once if he could hear the music in his head and he said “Yes”. He quizzes us on music concepts he knows we can’t answer, just to show how much he’s learned.

He’s proud of himself and holds himself to a high standard on his playing. I think it’s made him a better student. Motivated him, created a drive towards improving in all areas.
I ask him now and then which is his favorite class and it’s always Orchestra. Who his favorite teacher is Ms. Foster. I ask him what he did at school today and all he talks about is Orchestra, never about any other subjects.

You have created a caring, stimulating environment of mutual respect for these kids to grow as people, as much as musicians, and Ethan has thrived and shown a passion for violin like we’ve rarely seen in him.

Thank you very much for all you’ve given to the kids these many years, and for the huge impact you’ve had on Ethan.

Words cannot do justice for how appreciative we are to you for instilling the love of playing a musical instrument to our two boys!! With your incredible enthusiasm and love for teaching orchestra, you have sparked in them a passion that we never fathomed was in their future – what a gift! So thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the countless before and after school hours and the patience, joy, and perseverance you have given the kids year after year. It’s not only impressive but inspiring! You rock!

From Students:

You are a teacher who cares so fiercely for every one of her students that you feel it when you enter the classroom. I can thank you for whatever skills I have to make friends, speak up in class, ask questions, and control anxieties. You took the fear out of kids like me who were terrified of performing in front of others. I will never truly know the complete effect you have had on my life, but rest assured I am better because I met you.

How did you do it? How did you wake up every day and devote your entire effort into pushing kids to achieve their best? How did you make such a competitive environment seem like a family activity/summer camp? How did you have the energy to make every student and their parents feel special? I am amazed at your dedication and commitment towards your students. You made time for everyone: current students, past students, concerned parents, and grateful ones.

I am writing on behalf of all the hundreds of students who passed through your classroom, forever changed because of how much you care. I cannot express how thankful I am that you were there for me, and hope you continue to touch lives wherever you go in life. I will never find a teacher with as much enthusiasm for her job as you. Thanks for bringing me out of my shell.

J.M. – age 16

Playing viola is so much fun that it’s hard to stop. Learning with you has been a great experience and gives me hope that teachers do love their students. I have a really bad anxiety problem and your class relieves it. Seeing your smile every day makes me instantly happy. Learning to play viola was one of the greatest decisions I’ve ever made. When I’m stressed I have an outlet that helps me relax. It’s one of the few things that actually works for me. I’ll never forget the huge, positive impact you’ve made on my life.

R.C. – age 13

You are literally my favorite teacher that I have had. Every morning I look forward to learning with you. You have helped me accomplish so many skills on the cello that I never thought I would be able to do.

I really think one of the main reasons you are such an amazing teacher is your ability to connect with students so well. No other teacher I have met has such a connection with EVERY SINGLE student. When you walk into the room there is just this happy and exciting vibe.

C.W. – age 12

Throughout elementary school, middle school, high school, and even college you have by far been the best teacher I have ever had, not just in music but also in just being happy, expressing oneself, and embracing the little things in life.

S.G. – age 20

I have learned many valuable things that I will use every time I play my cello. Even though you won’t be here I will always have a little Ms. Foster on my shoulder. You taught me that music is supposed to be fun but we also have to push ourselves to our very best! Thank you for the being the best teacher EVER!!!!

S.H. – age 13

Thank you so much for being the best teacher in the whole world! Music has always been a big part of my life and you will be right next to it forever. Cello is something that makes me happy and playing it always reminds me of you. You gave me an amazing gift that no one else could ever give me. Thank you for always being sweet and kind. Words can’t describe how much I love you and look up to you.

K.P. – age 11

I’ve said it over and over again, but really thank you. You have helped shape my life for the better. Your motivation was so big and infectious that I started putting in more effort. I’m not sure if you’re aware but you really know how to motivate people. Heck, I was motivated by your motivation. You’re one of those people whose interests and passions are so loud that you can feel it, and the way you talk about them can make another person feel the passion radiating off of you and get sucked into it. Your passion is so prominent that other people can get inspired just by seeing how big your passion is.

I really appreciate everything you’ve done for me. It truly does mean more than you’ll ever know. I’m glad I met you so that I could finally find passion in something productive. The bottom line is you’ve helped inspire so many people and touched so many student’s lives and for that I thank you. I’ll be forever grateful to you.
